| Here are many reasons to stop by and see Demag at ProMat Booth #622. Hope to see you there! KBK Workstation Crane Enhancement. We'll be introducing an addition to our popular KBK workstation crane construction kits that increases load capacity and spanning capability. The new track profile will work for both suspension cranes and monorails. The addition to the traditional system is KBK II-H’s steel profile section that will fit between the KBK II and KBK III size sections, while remaining compatible with existing systems. The KBK II-H profile makes it possible to increase distances between suspensions on crane runways for spans of up to 28 feet and loads more than 1200 lb. The section also features a rigid rail joint capable of being subjected to a full load at any track position. The track will continue to provide reliable overhead material handling, smooth running for trolleys, and pendulating suspension that absorbs horizontal movement. It will feature compatible KBK parts such as travelling, extending and overhead cranes. Demag’s modular crane construction kit is designed for adaptability. The structure is lightweight and the bridges are flexible. Demag says it is relatively easy to assemble.   Our DCS-Pro electric chain hoist line is packed with standard features that allow operators to handle and precisely position critically sensitive loads with ease.  These include an infinitely-variable speed control with soft starting speeds as low as 3.15 inches/minute; a 1:200 control ratio that produces gentle positioning in addition to high speed travel; automatic switchover to low speed prior to reaching the upper/lower stop; acceleration and braking ramps to prevent load sway; and up to 90% higher nominal speed for partial load or no-load operations. Fully Operational Unit At ProMat! Designed with safety, convenience and low maintenance in mind, the entire family of DCS-Pro chain hoists includes as standard 24V control voltage and operating limit switches for improved safety and reliability, a brake-coupling system which ensures that loads are held securely in all operating situations, and a speed monitored slipping clutch for effective cut-off on overload allow safe operation. The DCS also comes standard with "plug & lift" connections that make the hoist simple to install, while the gearbox, brake and slipping clutch are maintenance-free for up to 10 years, while the modular chain drive can be quickly and easily replaced without having to remove the motor or gear parts. Our DC-Com electric chain hoists are feature packed work horses suitable for a wide range of applications.  Standard on the DC-Com is a two speed motor for accurate positioning, plug and play electrical connections to simplify installation and commissioning, and an adjustable height control pendant that improves safety and ergonomics.  Also included is an overload protection system with slip clutch and limit switches, quick disconnect connections, and an easy-to-access control panel for simple and efficient maintenance. Demag Cranes & Components is the first manufacturer to receive the Hoist Manufacturer Institute’s (HMI) Certification for its DC line of electric chain hoists.  HMI is a trade association affiliated with the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA). The DC-Com is available in 5 different capacities ranging from 275 lbs (125 kg) up to 4400 lbs (2000 kg).  All models easily connect to a variety of Demag’s popular trollies and electric trolley drives, and are easily integrated with the Demag KBK crane construction rail system. Ergonomic features include a control cable with ten feet of adjustment for optimum pendant positioning, a single fall                    chain design and upper and lower limit switch.    Our line of DC-Pro electric chain hoists includes many standard safety and performance features that allow users to achieve superior levels of performance, safety and productivity through reduced downtime, increased duty cycles, easy maintenance and improved ergonomics.  This hoist is certified by HMI ( Hoist Manufacturers Institute ) to meet the ANSI B30.16 and ASME HST 1 -1999 design and safety standards for electric chain hoists. Unique to the DC-Pro is an extended service life; a 20% improvement in comparison to conventional HMI 4 or 2m FEM classified chain hoists. This results in increased time between service intervals and general overhauls.  Many components are maintenance free for up to 10 years.  These features allow the hoist to be more productive and result in lower operating costs.  Safety features include brakes that do not require adjustment and clutches that provide protection against overload and slippage.  The brake-coupling system ensures that the load is held securely in position and cannot drop.  The slip clutch monitor automatically shuts the hoist down if the slip clutch torque is exceeded, preventing the slip clutch from wearing out due to operator error. The DC-Pro Chain Hoist is available in 275 - 11,000 lb. capacities with two different control configurations: standard with a pendant control or as the DCM-Pro with Demag’s Manulift control pendant for safe and easy handling of loads with only one hand. Pre-Engineered Overhead Bridge Crane, Crane Kits Our pre-engineered bridge crane single girder crane kits are available in either top running or under running configurations that allow installers to do their own on-site bridge crane assembly.  The kits are shipped complete with all necessary components except the steel beams, which can be purchased locally to save freight cost. The bridge crane kit comes complete with all components including a wire rope hoist, end trucks, bridge panel, festoon system with brackets and push button station. All bridge crane, crane kits are “plug and play” and no electrical work is required. The kits can typically be assembled in less than 21 hours, an extremely fast rate for the crane industry. Bridge crane, crane kits are designed for builders of beam girder bridge cranes in the 3, 5 and 10 ton capacity range. Demag provides all specifications and instructions. Onsite construction and maintenance services are also available. CoilMaster bridge crane for Handling Steel Coils Storage, handling operations and order-picking are processes that have to be performed continuously and reliably when handling steel coil.  In addition to the bridge crane crane itself, special magnets, stacker-cradle spreaders and tilt-type magnets provide for safe and reliable handling of coils, long bar material and sheet metal.  We offer unparalleled experience and knowledge when it comes to coil handling bridge crane solutions, with installations around the globe.  Stop in to discuss your operation, and let us put our problem solving capabilities to work for you!   The booth will include two video monitors illustrating solutions for overhead bridge cranes in the steel coil handling, waste-to-energy, aircraft, concrete pipe and wind turbine manufacturing industries. In addition, an overall capabilities video will demonstrate Demag’s global capabilities in ports, intermodal and manufacturing markets. www.demag-us.com |

About Demag Cranes and Components
Demag Cranes & Components based in Cleveland, OH , a subsidiary of Demag Cranes AG , is a world class manufacturer of high quality industrial cranes and components, electric chain and wire rope hoists, and load handling attachments and accessories for material handling flow, logistics and industrial drive applications. The company offers a complete range of services and support programs including replacement parts, maintenance and refurbishment.
Bridge crane with a wire rope hoist on an overhead crane system.
The Opportunity
A Demag bridge crane or overhead crane with a Wire Rope Hoist at a metal flooring company manufactures metal floor decking products and associated metal flashings, for use in the fast track construction industry. With a projected output of over 2,500,000 sq feet of metal decking per year, performance and reliability were deciding factors in selecting Demag Cranes & Components to supply the Bridge crane with the Demag Wire Rope Hoist.
The Solution
Demag 10 Ton under running Bridge Crane with a DRPRO Wire Rope hoist on a Demag Bridge crane. The wire rope hoist is equipped with 2 speed lift, low headroom under running style trolley with a top running single girder beam bridge crane or also called an overhead crane configuration. The wire rope hoist requirement was 2 speed lift, but the other travel motions are equipped with variable speed for ease when positioning on cutting equipment.
- The Bridge crane overhead crane included the standard travel VFC features, allowing trolley and bridge infinitely variable speed motions that gave the operator the precision required. From a high speed of 120FPM to only a few FPM when needed on the trolley motion, and a fast 160fpm on the bridge to also a few FPM when positioning.
- Lift requirement wire rope hoist was standard speed, but trolley and bridge needed positioning capability without compromising overall speed when needed for fast throughput.
- The trolley and bridge are able to change speed as required by the operator. The travel on the bridge and trolley are infinitely adjustable by the operator. This allows motions to be fine-tuned to correspond with each individual requirement. The speed and the acceleration on the bridge is adjusted by the operator by changing the pressure exerted on the button of the control station. This configuration allows precise position, but also fast traveling of the bridge crane when required.
Wrap Up
The operators have been very pleased with the ease of the bridge crane and the wire rope hoist.
Overall safety of the bridge crane, wire rope hoist and the overhead crane system has improved.
Continuous reliable operation of the bridge crane has been yet another benefit.

Bridge Crane and Overhead crane on a ski hill.
Bridge Crane and Overhead Crane Opportunity:
Demag Cranes & Components 10 Ton Wire Rope hoist on Bridge cranes for one of the highest crane application in the world. The bridge Crane is used for preventive maintenance on an innovative snowmaking installation. The “Snowmaker”, supplied by the company IDE Technologies Ltd., produces 3300 cubic feet of artificial snow every day, in high quality and without any chemical additives. Overhead cranes can help people to ski.
The Bridge crane Wire Rope Hoist  is equipped with 2 speed lift, low headroom under running Bridge crane trolley with a top running single girder beam crane configuration. The Wire Rope Hoist requirement was 2 speed lift, but the other travel motions are equipped with variable speed for ease when transporting material.
- The Overhead Bridge Crane included the standard travel VFC features, allowing trolley and bridge infinitely variable speed motions, which provided the operator the precision required.
- The Bridge Crane lift requirement was close headroom as seen in the above photo.
- The trolley and bridge on the Overhead crane is able to change speed as required by the operator.  The travel on the bridge and trolley are infinitely adjustable by the operator. This allows motions to be fine-tuned to correspond with each individual requirement. The operator can adjust the speed and the acceleration of the bridge by changing the pressure exerted on the button of the control station. This allows the operator to make adjustments depending on the application requirement.
- Four-position travel limit switch is standard on the hoist, but optional crane travel limit switches were supplied to stop the trolley and the bridge precisely as required by the customer for the application.
Wrap Up
The operators have been very pleased with the ease of use of the crane and the hoist.
Safety was improvement. Continuous reliable operation.
The picture below shows the Bridge Crane.  In the background you will notice what looks like a picture of mountains, but in fact those are windows.
