Indian power plant constructor opts for Demag process cranes

Indian power plant constructor opts for Demag process cranes

300 t crane installation for TD Power Systems
Rising demand for high-performance cranes in the Indian market
Successful implementation of production and sales strategy

Wetter, Germany 28 October 2013. Leading Indian manufacturers of generators and turbines rely on Demag crane technology. Most recently, Terex Material Handling supplied TD Power Systems Ltd. with two Demag process cranes that have lifting capacities of 300 t and 60 t.
Dr Lars Brzoska, Vice President and Managing Director of Terex Material Handling, says: “This order for high-performance crane installations, which are planned and produced by our specialist teams in India, are a confirmation of our sustained growth strategy. Thanks to our investments in the expansion of our production structures in India, we have no difficulty in serving the growing demand there for crane systems with enhanced performance features.”

Further information
TD Power Systems, one of the leading manufacturers of AC generators, has extended its production in Bangalore in the south of India. With the aim of producing larger and heavier generators, a second plant has been built with greater crane capacities. The handling of bulky components, e.g. stators and casings, as well as the transport of the completely assembled generators is handled by a Demag ZKKW double-girder overhead travelling crane. This crane, which has a span of 32 m, is fitted with a winch unit with a lifting capacity of 300 t. It travels on a 120 m crane runway which was also part of the order. A second crane hoist with faster lifting and lowering speeds supports the personnel in the precise assembly of components weighing up to 10 t. A second Demag process crane, which has a lifting capacity of 60 t and a 10 t auxiliary hoist unit, was installed in the new plant at the same time.
Manojit Acharya, Executive Director of Terex Material Handling India, adds. “Our customers for power generating machines need reliable crane systems which, with high performance and high availability, guarantee that their production processes run smoothly. That is why they put their trust in Demag crane technology. With the local engineering supplied by our Indian engineers, we offer technology based on extensive international experience and proven high standards. And with the comprehensive system support provided by our trained service technicians, we guarantee our customers maximum crane installation availability for smooth production processes.”
